At the age of 20 Cray decided to form his own band and began playing shows in college towns on the west coast. In 1982, Cray was signed to Mercury Records after several years of regional success and has opened for several artists including Eric Clapton. Cray is known for generally playing Fender guitars and has two signature Robert Cray Stratocasters models available from Fender.Daughter of Johnny Copeland, Shemekia Copeland, began to pursue her singing career at age 16. Her father took her on tour as his opening act, helping her establish her name in the blues scene. Copeland released her debut album, Turn the Heat Up!, in 1998, and her second album, Wicked, in 2000 which earned her three Blues Music Awards.
