| | Morning Birding | | Description: | Early spring is a great time to start learning your birds. Most of the winter birds are still around and there is a chance of seeing some early migrants. If you are a bird enthusiast or just getting interested in birding, come to McKeever Environmental Learning Center. This program will begin with a brief introduction on how to identify birds, followed by a leisurely paced walk through the forest. If there is time we will hike to a field habitat. This free program is open to all ages. Binoculars will be provided on a first come first serve basis. | | Knee High Nature | | Description: | If you are between the ages of two and five bring an adult and come to McKeever Environmental Learning Center to explore the natural world. This program will focus on what animals are doing during the cold winter months. Each program will focus on a different animal group. The program will start in an indoor classroom with a brief lesson about how the different animal groups survives winter. This will be followed by either a craft or a story about the animal group. Then everyone will head outside for a short walk around the center looking for signs of the animals discussed. Knee High Nature will be offered from January thru March. Join McKeever staff on a leisurely paced winter hike through the woods. Hiking during this time of year brings the promise of spring if you know where to look. McKeever staff will explain how to see the beginning signs of spring on the trees and maybe even some of the earliest wild flowers. This program will meet in front of the dining hall.
