| | Rural Outreach Presents A Dvorak Sighting in Monticello | | Description: | Wednesday, April 07, 2010; 7:00 PM - 8:30 PMRed Cedar Chamber MusicCelebrating Dvorak in Iowa with the old and the new! The Avalon Quartet will play world-famous Czech composer Antonin Dvorak's American Quartet written when he lived in Iowa in the summer of 1893. Now that's old! So what's new? Renowned composer, Harvey Sollberger, recently retired to his Iowa roots, has composed an extended work for flute, viola and guitar inspired by Dvorak's beloved quartet. Titled Spillville, this trio features Avalon violist Tony Devroye performing with Jan Boland (flute) and John Dowdall (guitar).This event is presented in collaboration with the United Church of Monticello. Rural Outreach performances are sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, the James & Norma Jean Rosborough Foundation, Chamber Music America, the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Alliant Energy Foundation.The Avalon Quartet is sponsored by Margaret Haupt and George J.
