 Alchemy in Theory and Practice: From the Laboratory to Life
Description:Alchemy, the Great Art, has for centuries been considered the mother of sciences. It vies with astrology as the oldest of the secret disciplines. While its main concern is with approaches to longevity, it is best known for its ability to turn base metal into gold. Join us for a short tour of the hidden corridors of the closed palace of the king. There will be a special emphasis in this lecture on practical alchemical work in the plant kingdom.Mikhail E. W. Plettner is a priest/ physician of the Eastern Orthodox Church. He specializes is Homoeopathy and the Auriculomedicine of Nogier. He has over 40 years of clinical experience in the practice of alternative medicine and has taught on the faculty of Bastyr University Health Science Center. Description:Singer-songwriter Dan Bern is joined by friends and collaborators Common Rotation for a special West Coast tour stop at the Sweetwater Music Hall. While Berns musical tales receive comparisons to those of Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie, most recently Bern has focused much of his talent and sharp wit on writing songs for movies and other projects. He composed songs for the Jake Kasdan/Judd Apatow spoof Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, starring John C. Reilly, as well as for Apatows Get Him to the Greek, starring Russell Brand and Jonah Hill.
