 Hope 4 the Homeless 5K Run/Walk
Description: March 3, 2012 is an important day in Martinsville-Henry County (MHC). "Sprinting For a Solution", is a 5K run/walk organized to assist with the homeless situation in MHC. All proceeds will be distributed equally between Citizens Against Family Violence and the new Community Dream Center.The route for the "Hope for the Homeless 5k Run" begins and ends in front of El Parral Mexican Restaurant along the Dick and Willie Trail. This 5k run supports the cause of homeless in Martinsville and Henry County as all funds raised will be shared equally with Citizens Against Family Violence (CAFV) and The Community Dream Center (TCDC).Everyone is invited to be a part of a team seeking to end homelessness in our area. Sponsors are being sought to help with the event. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 males and females. All participants will receive race swag.Registration Fee:$20 for runners & walkers until February 22 (includes t-shirt & race swag)$10 for children 12 & younger

 2012 NCBA Mid-Atlantic Regional Baseball Tournament
Description: The National Club Baseball Association (NCBA) and the Martinsville Mustangs Baseball Team invite baseball fans of all ages to come enjoy the 2012 Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament at Hooker Field.Four college club teams will participate in the double-elimination tournament. Contenders in the Mid-Atlantic region that may come to Martinsville are Wake Forest, NC State, UNC Charlotte, UNC Chapel Hill, Elon, East Carolina, University of Kentucky, Vanderbilt, University of Tennessee, Appalachian State, Belmont University, University of Maryland, George Washington University, Virginia Tech, James Madison University, and University of Virginia.Two games will be played on Friday, May 11th, three on Saturday, May 12th and two on Sunday, May 13th.Tournament Times: Friday 4 pm & 7 pm, Saturday 10 am, 1 pm & 4 pm, Sunday 10 amEveryone is encouraged to come out, cheer for your favorite college and support the event.
