Description
Each student will build a small wooden eight foot dinghy or rowboat which will carry 2 people. There will be one or two short quizzes on
nautical terms, tools, materials, and techniques. The final project will be the completed dinghy which the student may keep for personal use. Some rudimentary shop skills would be helpful, but not necessary.
The course will not include painting or final finishes, but complete instructions will be given. Students will need to purchase oars as well as life jackets. Minnesota state boat license and registration will not be required for this type of boat. Students will need to transport their boats with a pickup truck, boat trailer, or car top carrier.
This is a great bargain. A boat builder typically charges $750 for tuition and $1,000 in shop fees.
